[Build Log] M3G - Page 7

post #61 of 100
Very nice work on the light cube! It looks kinda cool in there =)

As for fans, I love my Yate Loon fans (if you're on a budget that is). I'm using Yate Loon Highs which push about 88CFM of air at 2.0-2.2 mmH20. They are a tad loud I will admit, but Yate Loon Mediums are a hell of a lot quieter and still boast something like 1.8-1.9 mmH20 of static pressure.

If you're not on a budget, Gentle Typhoons all the way. I've tried Swiftech's fans. They're alright I suppose, definitely less than the advertised 66CFM though.

Gentle Typhoon AP-15's (most common): http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10323/fan-674/Scythe_Gentle_Typhoon_120mm_x_25mm_Fan_-_1850_RPM_D1225C12B5AP-15_Hot_Item_.html
Yate Loon Medium Speed: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10456/fan-688/Yate_Loon_120mm_x_25mm_Fan_-_Open_Chassis_D12SM-12.html
Yate Loon High Speed: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10455/fan-689/Yate_Loon_120mm_x_25mm_Fan_-_Open_Chassis_D12SH-12.html
Swiftech Helix (GT knockoff): http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16009/fan-989/Swiftech_Helix_120mm_x_25mm_Z-Bearing_Fan_-_1800_RPM_HELIX-120-BW.html?tl=c15s60b33

And just as a side note, here are some Yate Loons that glow blue AND ultraviolet at the same time. I used to run these back when my rig was blue, they are crazy impressive in terms of the UV they put out. Literally made the whole case glow bright with only two fans. Thy make great radiator fans as well. They have those in LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH speeds as well.

Thanks for the fan info;
I wonder which speed loons were tested here:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1274407/fans-the-most-complete-and-comprehensive-array-of-tests-and-benchmarks
Its surprising how low the performance of the gentle typhoons was; they definitely look the coolest, and quietest though.

Will look into the high loons, not super concerned with noise level, 66db is just ridiculous.

They aren't 66dB. Most of FrozenCPU's noise ratings are incorrect. I have three running in my rig right now I can barely hear them to be honest.

you will always here them. I am telling you the XPSC Xinruilians are the best bang for the buck. I seen a cost effectiveness from them over the GT. my pump is louder then the fans. My psu fan is the loudest thing in my rig.
