Sleeved Cable Color Example Gallery and Color Suggestion Thread - Page 21

Do any of you guys have any mdpc left over that you want to sell? I contacted niles and he won't give me just 15 or so feet of each of the colors I want. Doesn't make sense to me but whatever. I was planning on spending over 100bucks or so but no go.

I would also like to know this! I have been messing with so many ideas, and I just wish that I had like 5 feet of a bunch of different colors. It would be nice to make some extensions or something like that as practice.

A side question: does anyone know how to create an extension? I know that there are different voltages (3, 5, 12, or something..) and some are grounds, so do you need to use different wire? Or are all of them just individual pieces of the 18 gauge AWG wire? What else is needed to make the extensions? A crimper and some of the metal things with the long wings? I've only seen guides to sleeve, not to make the actual wire.

In a similar color scheme I used grey mark II with b-magic and a splash of white to match the case. Grey mark II is great if you want to blend the nickel/shiny parts of the mobo (I/O ports, wc blocks etc).

Sleeved ATX Cable (MDPC)

Still Work in Progress

There's some information in the FAQ about connectors, pins and the proper crimping tool. But basically an extension is just that: it's a male-to-female adapter, with 24 wires connecting the male pins to the female pins in a 1-to-1 layout.

But they are all the same type of wire, correct? I didn't know if a different type of wire was supposed to be used for the different locations on the adapter.

I am going to be doing some cable sewing in the near future to tidy up the wires and help properly show off the design in the color scheme and was wondering what would look better a black or white thread? I am getting roughly 50 yards of each black and white no stretch nylon just in case I need to resew or didn't like the color so quantity is not a problem. Maybe a mix match? I would've like trained cables, but seasonic PSUs are finicky bastards with double voltage sensing wires and a non 1:1. Anyways something like doing the 24 pin and CPU in white and the 2x6pin and SATA in black could be an option. Any ideas on recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Generally go by whichever you have more of in your colour scheme, and be consistent. I would go with white thread for both since it contrasts better with the b-magic.

I thought that white for everything would be the better choice seeing as it is the most prevalent color in the scheme. Also now I see what you mean, it would contrast with the B-magic better making it pop just that little bit more. Anyways thank you WiSK.
