Streaming through WMC on Xbox 360

Thread Starter
Ok I've been having issues with this, streaming video from my gaming rig through a WRT110 to a dd-wrt modded WRT54G in another room to allow my 360 to connect wirelessly. It's slow, freezes often, and is just a crappy experience overall to do. The lady has finally told me I have to do something about it so it stops screwing up her Doctor Who watching.

So what's the better option? A NAS, or can the 360 handle a external drive plugged directly into it for watching movies/tv shows?

You can try enabling "flow control" This article can explain how:

There are also a few other tips in there.

I do believe that it can read an external plugged directly in, but you will have to use the native video player which doesn't support as many video files as WMC, I think. I've only had luck with .avi and not the .mp4
