KABOOM! Antec 1000W Bites the Dust

Hello OCN! I wanted to share something that happened to me yesterday night.

So there I was working on my water cooling loop for about a couple of weekends. I was finally nearing the completion of everything and all I would have to do would be to work on the wiring. I had been having a hard time stopping this one leak in my copper piping. So I finally went ahead and got the leak stopped and everything was read to go! Out of nowhere I had this BRILLIANT idea to go ahead and plug in my GTX 670 power cables in while my psu was turned on. Well...you guys know what happened next. The whole thing shorted and made some crazy sounds and some nice smoke came out. And there you go; a nice PSU blown out due to human stupidity. I had no idea what I was thinking and why on earth I would try to plug in cables while my psu was on. Sigh...right when I thought my computer would be up and running again, I blow out another part.

So just some quick advice; TURN OFF EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU MESS WITH ANYTHING!

I thought this might give some of you a good chuckle, so I wanted to share my awesome $300 mistake with you guys! tongue.gif

You sound a little bitter man frown.gif

I've done some pretty stupid things too...although counter intuitive, I feel like the worst mistakes are often made right before completion due to the distraction / reduced focus on the task at hand. Worst thing I did was forget to plug the fan back in on a graphics card after I cleaned it. Suddenly my live cd stopped loading my discrete graphics driver and reverted to integrated.....not fun.

I've done some stupid things in the past. I still remember my first build when I punched a hole on the motherboard with the pins -_-
