Wireless Router/USB Adapter Question

Thread Starter
1. i have a linksys router that is 802.11g i purchased about 5 years ago. i have no problems with it, but i'm wondering is there any benefit to me getting a newer router that provides 150mbps or higher? i have never understood the need for that much speed since nothing is downloadable at that rate on the internet...or at least i've never come across any. but i'm wondering if a newer router will still be faster regardless.

2. i need a wireless adapter for my PC because i have to put my desk in a new place (i was corded before). which and/or what type of adapter should i get? USB seems the easiest, but i really don't know if that one will be limiting in any way. the desktop will only be about 10 feet away from the wireless router.

1. Stuff is available to download at that speed (but you likely don't have the connection from your ISP to utilize it....also, you could get there easily by doing many things at once [e.g. a netflix stream, windows update, PS3 gaming, torrents, etc. all running at same time]). Also, you network works far below its rated speed, so a 150 MBPS isn't actually running that fast.

2. And USB would be great! It can sometimes be better than internal since the antennae is external.
