Dell u2711 vs hp zr2740w vs ?

Thread Starter
I'm getting a new monitor in december or january, and I want to get a bigger and higher resolution one than the one I have now (the dell sx2210). Right now my sx2210 is a 21.5" 1080p tn panel: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=corp&sku=320-7976 . I don't notice any input lag right now. Will the input lag of the u2711 (30ms) be noticeable? I play mostly fps games, bf3 right now, I don't mind turning down some settings to use the higher resolution, resolution is more important to me than anything else. If there is noticeable input lag, I'll get the zr2740w, although it'll be harder to find on ebay, and it looks like it is worse quality than the 2711 and it doesn't have hdmi. So are there any other reasons to get either monitor or something else? I'll be buying it on ebay for $500-600, they're about the same price.

Dell u2711 is a great monitor. Users say that, i never used one tbh.

Did you ever look into the Korean IPS models?

They have less response times than the Dell U2711.

There is a huge hype surrounding them

These monitors are only sold in Korea and you can only buy them via ebay.

I didnt know about them either and was saving money for Dell u2711 but I ended up ordering one of the Korean models via ebay just 2 days ago and waiting for my shipment now. It is already shipped

also, how does a screen with the same panel have a better response time? Or do you mean less input lag?

Response time and input lag were non-issues for me when I had the U2711. It ran games beautifully and better than any monitor I've used to date. My biggest complaint with the U2711 is the anti-glare coating which makes text on white backgrounds unpleasant to read. (EG browsing, Word, etc). The build quality and connectivity are unparalleled, though.

I would not purchase one unless you can find it for $780 or less. (And $600 or less for the ZR2740w)

I'd opt for the U2711 if you can find one for the aforementioned price or lower.

What I really want to see is a quality TN panel (EG like the Samsung Touch of Color line) in a 27" 2560x1440 variety... but that's just me.

The price that IPS and that resolution carry are crazy... considering you can buy 3 solid 23-24" 1080p monitors for less.

Sorry about that yess less input lag. Some people claim that this is due to having only 1 input which is Dual DVI but i am no expert and did not use the monitor yet.

Lol they do have those monitors in microcenter? I didnt know that. Same price?

There's only one version at microcenter, and it's $100 more.

Pretty much sums the U2711 nicely, I love mine. If I ever go surround, I'm glad to have this to do it on.

I payed $830 for mine about a year ago I think (prolly more than a year ago), off of Amazon. Think at the time there wasn't much competition for the U2711, now with those Korean monitors and HP's there is more of a variety.

Good luck with choosing, I have to say the U2711 is worth the cost, love mine, can never go back to anything under 1440p biggrin.gif

which one is the best? And why are they so cheap? Since the price is so low, do they have 30" sizes? Also, what is monitor overclocking, can it be done through software?
