Pretty much sums the U2711 nicely, I love mine. If I ever go surround, I'm glad to have this to do it on.
I payed $830 for mine about a year ago I think (prolly more than a year ago), off of Amazon. Think at the time there wasn't much competition for the U2711, now with those Korean monitors and HP's there is more of a variety.
Good luck with choosing, I have to say the U2711 is worth the cost, love mine, can never go back to anything under 1440p
