Subject: 7970 Toxic overclocking and stability.
Spend some time playing Crysis2, BF3 and many runs of heaven, 3dmark11, Kombuster. 1325 core was slightly high, ran into a few stabilty issues. Lowered the core to 1315Mhz. Now the memory is a different story as we were discussing earlier in the day. The small amount of data I have shows 1900 Memory is the real deal with no decrease in FPS or Score when running Heaven 3.0 as required by the official Heaven thread settings that are fully maxed at 1680 x 1050 resolution.

The best I can tell my score is slightly higher than the current #1 for a single GPU. My scores: 63.8 FPS and 1606 Score. Below are the benchmark numbers I compiled showing Core Freq. Memory Freq. FPS and Score. The attached Heaven screen shot was the 1315 Core 1900 Memory run. (Actually ran it numerous times)

Core Memory FPS(Avg) Score
1315 1700 62.1 1565
1315 1750 62.6 1578
1315 1800 63.0 1587
1315 1850 63.4 1597
1315 1900 63.8 1606

Your card would be in the top 3 to 5 scores for single GPU in Heaven 3.0. When compared across a wide range of games your card would outperform GTX 680 OC. I would say 1300 Mhz (core speeds) for playing games with complete stability is a good choice .

What display driver are you running? Do you have any issues playing BF3 for extended periods of ti,me? With 12.7 i get the display driver not working bug so i dropped my OC some.

Ramp up the volts and see if you can push her higher! Congrats on a a sick card, I don't know if I could justify the price though and I love spending money.

I would be interested in seeing how well it performs with the voltage lowered.
