It's exactly the same as CrossFire, just that both of the GPUs are jammed together on one card.
It is Crossfire.

"GTX 690 models currently sell for just under $1,000 to more than $2,700 at this time"

Where can I buy a pair of those $2,700 GTX 690's?

What could possibly be done to make these cards cost $2,700? I can't think of a single thing.

It's been a long time since I bought a Radeon gpu, but this one has definitely piqued my interest.

Even more so than the new ASUS Mars III.

I'm suspecting they took a different approach in some key aspects after the Nvidia 6xx series launched. And hence the delay. Maybe lower power use?!?!?!?

Definitely building the anticipation, but hoping its not a "almost there" gtx 590 rolleyes.gif

I'm guessing msrp ~$900-950 to undercut the gtx 690 (like the 7970 price drop after gtx 680). But first wave of cards will be sold with a premium from the retailers rolleyes.gif

Be interested to see what it can do.

But honesty I expect 2 neutered 7970's in order to keep the tdp and heat in check.

Should be as loud as a leaf blower and hot as a nuclear reactor.

Hopefully amd will have decent drivers out by the time it releases I wen through a nightmare with 2 different 7970's and every driver ever released.

I'm puttin money on the 690 in everything beside huge resolution surround. The extra VRAM might have an advantage there

they are too late to the table. if they sell for 8-850 they might do well but with some 7970's going for less then $400 there is no way people are going to pay 900+ for a 7990. then again some people have more money then brains so who knows

If 7970s are going that cheap then 7990s shouldn't be too much.

Unless they somehow miraculously get 90% scaling all the time.(Notice not 100%; anything outside of 75 to 90 can cause microstutter).
