There is much performance to be gained by overclocking the North Bridge as well at Hyper Transport. I would aim for a 2800Mhz NB and HT freq. along with a 3.8+ O.C. on the CPU for a substantial increase in performance.
Look into upgrading your cooling;

Overclocking the HT on Phenom II Processors reduces performance.

Get your Northbridge to 3000MHz, and CPU @ 3.8GHz, and your golden!

Someone told me that the phenom possessors can be at 70C or even a little higher. Is this correct?

leave everything at stock and get your cpu-nb as close to 3000mhz as you can and still be stable. all youll have to do is raise the cpu-nb multiplier. see what kinda temps you get.
frankly id lower my vcore if its on auto. no idea on thuban stock vcore and whats needed to run what clocks but i would say, if its higher than 1.400v like others ive seen, drop it to 1.4v
run prime 95 quick n dirty test to get an idea if youre stable. try 2600 cpu-nb first and see if its stable. if it is, try 2800. stable ? try 3000.
http://www.overclock.net/general-processor-discussions/838244-prime95-quick-dirty-guide-custom-settings.html
if youre stable through the quick n dirty test, run prime95 blend overnight while you sleep. you should run it a minimum of 12 hours. 24 hours if you want to consider it 'mostly rock stable'
jut my 2 cents

good luck

ps, this is if youre still on the stock cooler and want performance with stock heatsink

Thanks, I'll try it out.

Maximum safe voltage on a Thuban is about 1.45; the design of the chip is a little less voltage-tolerant than a Deneb. But with a 1090T, you should make it to 3.8 easily with a good aftermarket cooler, and a lot of them will top 4.0. Your motherboard is certainly good enough to handle it.

Use the CPU/NB frequency to overclock as much as you can. Thubans for some reason get a very substantial benefit from overclocking that way, as opposed to just raising the multiplier. When I was running my 1035T at 3.3, it was benching quite a bit over the level of a stock 1100T. If you can get to around 3.9, you should be able to eliminate any CPU bottlenecking.

It seems that most games run on 4 cores. Should I disable two cores so I can overclock more?If so does it matter which ones I disable?
That is the dumbest concept, ever. If you wanted a quad you should have bought a quad. Though, if you must- disable the inside cores. 0,1,4,5 enabled, 2,3 off.

OK, i'll try that. Thanks for the advise.

You may not be able to get a reasonable overclock without an aftermarket cooling fan/heatsink. You will need that first to keep a stable, cool cpu.

I've read in a couple different places that 67 degrees max is safe for 24/7 use on most chips. Some, like Nehalem and GPU's, are made to run hotter than that.
