Galaxy S 3 or Galaxy Nexus on Verizon

I was currently up for a new phone with Verizon and was wondering which phone I should get. I know that the S 3 is much newer, but I really like the fact that the Nexus is "pure" Android. The only problem is that the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon does not get the updates as quickly (ie doesn't have Jelly Bean yet) because it is the 4G LTE version. So what do you think?

EDIT: Camera doesn't really matter and I can get the unlocked Nexus now as I realized it isn't much more than the S3.

The next batch of Nexus devices will be announced in Early November, so it's up to you if you want to wait until then. I like the feel of my S3 in my hands better than the Nexus, but I love playing around on my parents' Nexii. Having an ICS tablet in the house, the Nexus comes pretty intuitively, but some of the features that the S3 has are just amazing to have, even if I don't use them all.

Cant beat the price of the GNEX over at Amazon, its only a penny right now. The update is partly VZW, countless AOSP roms show that Google has JB ready for the phone, so that points to the carrier. Jelly Bean screams on the GNEX. Go down to your VZW store and spend some time on both to see how you like them. The S3 is the clear superior specs wise but I like the feel of the GNEX and the price.

My girlfriend has the Gnex. I like it alright, but I dont think she takes full use of it because she doesnt want to root it or anything like that. I dont think you can go wrong with either phone, and as said above, you can get the gnex for $.01 on Amazon Mobile.

According to Droid-Life as for speed, the SGS3 even on ICS blows the Nexus on JB out of the water.

I have a GS3 on Verizon (Employee). Absolutely phenomenal! While the pricing of the two are quite different, especially from different retailers, I think the quality of the camera (I can't take a bad pic), speed of the CPU, double the RAM (I have never force closed), increase of screen size, and SVoice are all things that should be considered.

If you are concerned with phone OS update speed, which it sounds like you are, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus will still get updated quicker than the Galaxy SIII. If you can wait till the end of the year then I would. Should be a ton of new nexus devices to choose from. If you can't wait then I suggest the Galaxy Nexus over the Galaxy SIII

Do'nt be so sure. Samsung supposedly is ready to roll out JB this month yet, while the Verizon Nexus hasn't seen anything.

I wouldn't do it. My friend has one and is constantly hooked up to the charger due to the Galaxy's laughable lack of battery life.
