Hi guys, i'm writing this thread mostly out of curiosity. You see i've heard that GTX570's tend do drop dead after slightly overclocking, however i've used MSI Afterburner and achieved a 965Mhz core clock, 1930Mhz shader clock and 2470Mhz memory clock, all this is done without touching the volts, because i haven't unlocked it. Though i wanted to see if i could set the core clock higher though i've been a bit hesitent due to failing 570's, i also don't know the safe voltage for this card as i've heard different answers. some say 1,00 some say,1,15 and so forth. i've also had the card for around 4 months

GTX570 Asus Direct CUII overclock

The Asus Direct CUII has a custom non-reference board. Other 570 models using the reference board, even models made for overclocking (like the MSI gtx570 twin frozr II) would probably have toasted at those clocks! The model you have should be safer for overclocking because of its custom pcb and custom quality parts, just like the MSI twin frozr III which also has custom parts. I don't know what is the best durability / overclock ratio for this card, but I know the Gigabyte 570 superOC is FACTORY overclocked at
Core Clock: 845 MHz
Shader Clock: 1690 MHz
Memory Clock: 3800 MHz
most people in reviews seems to get the core to 900-950 stable.
By the way, I just bought a factory refurbished gtx570 twin frozr III, which MAY mean someone overclocked it too far... Even if it has a custom pcb, this one could have got some parts burned and MSI repaired it.
If I had to choose I wouldn't go far beyond of what you have now.
I would be happy with that awesome overclock.

Thanks for the answer, yeah i'm pretty happy with the overclocks i was just wondering what was possible to do. Great that you wrote why the ASUS is better for overclocking than the stock 570. Apprecite it!
