Time to step up our folding effort again - Page 10

When I did fold on the X1900, I set it to 75% max. That way you don't experience as much system slow down (plus, the GPU doesn't run as hot).

Also, Stanford recommends that if you fold on a GPU, to leave 25% of CPU power available (thus fold 75% on the CPU also... I assume on one of the cores if you have multiple cores)

Really it's all about being consistant. I have a D915 that folds 24/7 and manage some very decent points with it (Jimmy2Shoe#2).

I'll give an example... Jimmy2Shoe#2 is hitting 442PPD. Now I know there are other PCs folding that have far superior specs than a stock D915 but are still pulling in less PPD.

Jimmy2Shoe#2 is folding 24/7. And that's why that even people with modest systems should fold. The D915 is no slouch, but I used to have a Celeron D326 @ 3.00GHz, a budget processor, and was able to pull in 125-175PPD.

It's all about folding as much as possible.

Jimmy

Seems you had some failures there.... and only one that actually counted for 153 points. It's odd though that this would happen suddenly. Normally this happened when a rig is not stable. A WU starts, and then fails; results are sent... and you might get a point for effort

I guess that's bad. i haven't actually done any stability testing on this OC because it's almost identical to the previous one. but i guess i might as well to make sure.

Not much of a farm just two PCs. My sig rig, and another custom built PC (GA-8I945P-G Board, D915, 1GB of PC-5300 RAM, nVidia 7300... it's a family PC).

I could get my Dell Laptop folding, but it makes WAY too much noise. Think hovercraft It's pretty solid: P4 @ 3.06GHz, but the fan goes to 4700RPM the minute FAH is running.

2 PCs, 4 Cores. The E6300 folds for the team competition, the other one folds for 37726. I've been experimenting with SMP and stuff, so my core count gets pretty wild, right now I'm installing fedora with VMWare... SMP within windows would be nice... I'll even post a FAQ if it works well!

You must be getting some insane WUs on the main rig given your daily output Or did you tweak some settings

I'm running Stanfords SMP client, it's multi-threaded folding! All you need is Linux 64 bit and you're set!

Currently, the only WU's available are 1760 and 587 pointers. Because the client uses both cores, it processes them very quickly.... they're 100% bonus WU's too, so that doesn't hurt. Then again, I do get the odd buggy WU, and it took me quite some time to setup and learn linux... it balances out
