Overclock voltage safe? - Page 2

Well that V-core is a little High for my liking. Drop it until you become unstable 1 increment at a time. The Raise it until you are fully stable again.

However Lapping Voids your warranty Completely...Make sure you wish to do so.

at 400mhz fsb you'll need more than 1.5v on the NB, trying increasing the vMCH and drop your vCore a bit until you are stable. also, if you are running the 9x multi you could check out the thread i posed on enabling C1E with rmclock, which will lower your idle temps drastically.

You should absolutely stick under 60.1C, as it's the recommended thermal specs.
If you're above 1.425Vcore, then it's 55c.

Okay I put my C2D @ default settings. I checked TAT and it idles at 35-38. Is that normal? On 100% it goes to 52.

Now i put the vCore at 1.42 and it idles at 48. 3.15 ghz. Load it goes to 62 -_-....I checked the C2D IHS with a backplate to see if it concave...doesnt seem like it...im thinking i need to redo the lapping on my HS...or bigwater just suxs!

I know, I was saying that if the chip didn't arrive dead then the warranty is useless

I noticed have that little slant near the edge of the IHS as in this picture. Its not the corner but the straight long edge. Is that normal?

the only way to know for sure is to use a razor and put it in the middle of the heatsink in line with the CPU as was already said.

The reason for this is that the only part of the CPU heatsink that matters is a very small strip running down the center where the actual CPU is, it wouldn't matter if the rest was concave as long as your cooler is making perfect contact with that small strip in the center.

It's when that's concave that you will have any difference in temps..
