I'm kinda dissapointed in my results - Page 2

I wouldnt say that score is to bad compaired to some things, as my 03 Mark was around 8,000-9,000 stock on this rig with a 820 and 6600gt. Check this 805 03 Mark with a 6600gt , your not far behind that, and its clocked to 3.2.

VIA is the last chipset I'd use for overclocking. It's like trying to bore out the engine on a ford fiesta, sure you can do it, but it's still going to suck.

My rig was ~$1200 before rebates and I got it down to about $850 with all the rebates... So they're mucho helpful

But you desperately need to get that Celeron out of there. Or upgrade to a new mobo and OC the bejesus out of it. Either option would be about the same price, but OC'ing the celeron would offer more performance than a mere upgrade of the CPU to say a 3Ghz P4...

Good luck!

From my personal experience with Celys is that at anything below 200fsb they're just dog slow, I would never run at Cely below 200fsb and with that VIA mobo chances of that happening are impossible.

The 6600 GT is a slow card as it is and in AGP they're even slower than PCI-Ex16.

But if you can play one or two games with a decent resolution than job well done but remember the saying: You get what you pay for.

I think you should start looking in the for sale forums and see if you can snatch a used Pentium 4 6xx.

now i am really bummin. I clocked the CPU and mem speeds up (the memory clock increments based on the CPU clock and I cannot independently control them as I had hoped). The CPU is now running at 3.146Ghz and the memory is at ~220 (440 DDR) - ish. I went thru my services menu and cleaned up any extraneous applications and processes, shut down all virus controls and such (first time EVER that my systray only had 2 icons it it...volume indicator, and the flower from RivaTuner).

Here's the results. I still feel I should be better than this. I guess it's time to cinch up the belt and hold a bake sale. Dawg needs more goodies. This chit's more addictive and much more expensive than paintball.

LInk fixed, and Well...it's just easier to use the 'url' tags

I know what you mean about the addictive part... It's just a never ending cycle of spending money! I just bought water-cooling and a new PSU to try and get that 3Ghz goal for my AMD. I just have to remember that ARE actually better things to do with my cash...

The problem is the celeron. Even at 4ghz or so they are very slow. Ask the user fstfrddy. He posted a while back saying that his celly at like 3.8ghz performed worse in games than his p4 at ~2.8ghz I believe. If you really want that rig to accelerate, you're going to have to get rid of that board and cpu. Get a board with an Intel chipset such as an 865PE and a 3.0 prescott and you'll be good to go. Overclock the prescott to about 3.6-3.8ghz (which shouldnt be hard) and you'll see a huge difference.

Also, remember that 6600GT's are old cards these days. 10,000 or so in 3DMark03 is fine... I got 15,000 with my P4 at 4ghz/6800GT at 440/1200. A 6800GT is as powerful as two 6600GT's.
