"Computer" a budget i3 build

Computer


This is a build for a coworkers nephew. He is into music production and needs something a bit quicker than his old Celeron eMachine. The goal of this build is to give him something nice a quick, but still come in under a $500 total including the OS. I looked at going with a Llano build, but felt that the i3 would give him a longer lifespan based on how long he kept his last system.

The components:

CPU: i3 2100
Mobo: Asus H67-M
Memory: 8gb (2x4gb) Corsair Vengence LP
HDD: 160gb Seagate Barracuda 7000.7
Storage HDD: none yet (out of budget) - ideally a 1 or 1.5 tb green drive.
Case: NZXT 220 black
PSU: Custom sleeved LEPA 500N (Sleeved in turquoise, blue, and black)
OS: Win7 64bit
Sound Card: Creative
ODD: Asus DVD-R





Build is just now coming together and will be completed over the next week or so.

Custom sleeving? Is that a bit excess for a $500 Build or am I missing something.

Yeah, probably. Build is for the nephew of a coworker that saw the sleeving I did on my Lemons build. Not charging for my services, just parts. Lets me get to play without rebuilding my sig rig for the upteenth time.

that is a very nice budget build. i have a question unrelated to the build; it's not possible to use the GUNNAR's while wearing normal glasses right?

I was looking at going with a llano build, but when the i3 2100 went on sale for $80 at Frys and I picked up the H67 from Geeks for $41 shipped. The guy isn't going to be doing anything too much with graphics, so I figured the higher clock and multi threading would better suit him. (was $5 less than the Llano combo with A6-3500/A75 )
