Looking for a visually stunning game - Page 4

Mirror's edge
Skyrim with mods (ironically, skyrim without mods is probably the worst looking game released this side of 2007)
Crysis
Metro 2033 (shame it's set in a tunnel though)

pCars is easily the best looking racing game I've seen in a very long time. But I could also say that, imo, Burnout Revenge was the most 'stunning' to me cause of the awesome crashes..

It's all subjective, how many people out there, and associations, say that Casablanca is the best movie ever made? If we don't agree with that... does that make us wrong? No, it means we have a different opinion. The OP asked for examples of games WE thought were visually stunning, not for peoples opinions on others' opinions lol.

I don't understand, your point is subjective opinions are subjective, and we shouldn't add our comments b/c OP didn't ask for them, even though it pertains to the acutal topic?

The existence of graphics 'improving' mods for it, and the fact that people spend so much time trying to polish beauty onto that turd is what I find the most ludicrous. It's like spending vast amounts of time and effort into trying to squeeze supercar performance out of a Toyota Echo when your talents could be better spent on improving something that isn't inherently gutless.

And another reason why I despise this sort of thing, is because I'm sure it's sending all the wrong signals to real game developers. If some indie upstart can make a fortune out of this kind of backwards crap, why would anyone bother committing the resources required to make something truly beautiful and complex? Far more lucrative to exploit the 'retro' fad or make everything over simplistic and cartoon like and pretend it's some unique artistic inspiration.

Back in ~1997-2007 we were reaching for the sky. Stunningly immersive environments full of rich content. Now deliberate regression is all the rage.

Like it or not, it has an interesting aesthetic. Would you prefer it to be brown and grey completely? It has a cool "cartoon" style to it that has a great color pallet and scheme.

No, my point is that all opinions on 'visually stunning' games are subjective, and that's fine. My issue is with people coming into the thread and saying that someone else's opinion is wrong. OP asked for our opinion on what games we thought looked great, not our opinions about someone else's opinion.

And Ouba, last I checked, they called them video'games' not video graphics showcases that always have to look better and better'. Again, I may disagree with your opinion that visually stunning has to equal realism, but I don't say you're wrong about your opinion.

I just personally think visually stunning is something that makes you go 'wow', and a game doesn't have to be BF3 to do that, but anyway, I'm getting off topic.

Another to add to the list... ARMA2 fully maxed out looks amazing

Are you implying the former AoE games were all "brown and grey"?
