Definitely better than a 7950. Hopefully they do a Battlefield 3 and Skyrim test soon.

Only better than 7950 until you turn up AA and AF then 7950 beat 660ti in some games because of 192bit memory bottleneck. I would wait for more reviews that test modern games like Skyrim and BF3.

HD 7950 is a good overclocker. perf scales very well with overclocking. clock for clock is 3 - 5% slower than HD 7970. there is no way the GTX 660 Ti which is a crippled GK104 is going to compete with the HD 7950. HD 7950 and GTX 670 compete when overclocked. At stock the GTX 670 is clocked higher and has the edge. But who cares for stock. Look at the HD 7900 users thread. HD 7950 OC cards are rocking at 1100 - 1200 Mhz speeds. For price perf in the high end HD 7950 cannot be beat.

Uh, this is boosting very high (almost undoubtedly above 1100MHz) while the 7950 is stuck at 800MHz in these tests. However, if you go on HWBot, you'll find that on air Tahiti is a slightly better overclocker than Kepler. On top of that, the 7950 was tested using 12.4 drivers, which are ~15% slower than the 12.7 drivers on average. Furthermore, TT's game library is atrocious.

I'm fed up with nvidia this generation, reference 600 series cards with only 2gb vram and low memory bandwidth, Sure they are great for 1080p "just" but times have changed and we want a card that can also rule the roost at 2560+ resolutions with lots of aa / af etc

And no it's far from being as good as a 7950, especially when overclocked

This whole generation is a bust.

AMD was first to market and tried to charge outrageous prices. The 6970 launched at $369, the 7970 at $549! Nvidia launched with weak supply and we are still waiting for half of its lineup to launch. Not only did nvidia delay the GK110, they called the GK104 the gtx 680.

Has the world gone crazy?

Wut? eh-smiley.gif

I'm expecting the relationship between the HD7950 and GTX660Ti to be very similar to that between the GTX560Ti and the HD6950. The HD7950 would be the better card, with the GTX660Ti brushing up on Nvidia favoured games while costing around $10 less.

Has the world gone crazy?

7970 is a new process and a brand new generation...though putting it over $500 launch was over the top.

There's no concrete proof that GK110 was supposed to come out this year as a first iteration of Kepler, unless im mistaken

To be honest...both red and green camps were greedy this gen...nvidia for keeping the aging 580 priced so high and amd for trying to one up them with a premium
