Undervolting a fan controller plate?

Hi guys.

My knowledge of physics hit a complete failure when i was trying to calculate the following.

For a planned future build, i would love to have all fans running at 5V, and i was planning on using 3x http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/product_info.php/info/p12359_Phobya-4Pin-Molex-to-6x-3Pin-Fan-Splitter-PCB.html

Now, since these connect to the PSU via a Molex, it would supply 12V, and therefor have my fans running at 12V, see the problem here? wink.gif

My question is now, can i mod the cable from the PSU to the PCB so that the entire PCB will only get 5V. I was thinking something like adding an Ohm resist on the 12V wires, but heck, i'm blank here.

So, if anyone of you know how to do this, if it is even possible, that would be lovely smile.gif

Cheers.

I'd use a rheostat (basically a variable resistor).
That way if 5V wasn't enough it would be easy to change.

Just get one that will handle the total wattage of all your fans.

I think FrozenCPU and Sidewinder Computers sell them.

Thank you mate! Will try that trick out to see if that works by connecting it to a plate.thumb.gif
