need help about crossover 1440p gold led monitor

Thread Starter
so i was thinking of buying the crossover 2560x1440 ips monitor but i got so confused of the different versions that this and the other korean monitors have.

heres the version i wanted to buy
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CROSSOVER-NEW-2720MDP-GOLD-LED-Perfect-Pixel-2560x1440QHD-LG-S-IPS-27-Monitor-/120926766239?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item1c27cc049f

im not sure if accesorieswhole is trustable since this is my first time ordering from ebay

and could someone explain me about the "gold led" version is it really worth it because i could buy a cheaper crossover without the "gold led"
for like 360euros (the gold led costs 450 euros) and what difference does if i would instead buy a normal crossover

and will the perfect pixel claim have a guaranteed 5 or less dead pixels?

i am not an expert, but from what i have read the "gold LED" version just has more inputs... like DVI as well as HDMI. check the main crossover thread.

so does that make a great difference between 10bit and 8bit and is it worth the 70-100euros

assuming its a true 10 bit monitor which it claims to be its color reproduction will be much better. Noticeable? Probably not unless you are using 10bit video sources. its somewhere in the realm of 1 billion colors for 10 bit vs 16.7 mil from 8 bit. So there are a lot more color combos available. The 10 vs 8 stems from the number of decimal places available for each color in RGB. so 8 bit is 8 digits in binary so 256 combos so 256 ^3 colors vs 10 bit which is 10 digits of binary being 1024 colors per so 1024^3.

Obviously 1 billion is better than 16 million but when most of the videos or pictures you see are made with 8 bit color it kind of defeats the purpose...

In a long winded way it basically boils down to do you do professional video/Photo editing... (to which my answer would be why are you buying a korean IPS...) and if you don't then in all practicality its not worth it.
All 8-14 bit displays are 8 bit +FRC and it makes no difference except with high end NEC/Eizo/Lacie displays which feature hardware calibration and wide gamut displays which greatly oversaturate colours (sun burned skin tons)

There aren't any true 10 bit sources either except for non-consumer things like medical imaging.

Just ignore the bits, the 1 billion vs 16 million is just marketing garbage except for wide gamut displays, but they over saturate colours and pretty much everything is created for sRGB colour spaces, so the "extra colours," really only negatively effects content.

I was under the understanding that the LG IPS panel was only capable of 8-bit depth, so how can they possibly produce 10-bit monitor with it?
