So let me get this right: The orriginal developers of STALKER work for another company called Vostok games, and they are developing a game called Survarium (an MMO) which is not just Chernobyl but surrounding areas. While the STALKER IP belongs to GSC and there are issues revolving around obtaining this IP, and the project is now on ice.
Now onto those who are bashing Bethesda: I disagree. Bethesda may not make the most solid games, but Skyrim and Fallout 3 where great games (especially FO3 NV, but that was Obsidian). At least thanks to comapnies like Bethesda, we have less Call of Duty knockoffs in the market, which might I add, are not orriginal and or even entertaining series (sorry to those who like them).
If the STALKER name drops but they continue to follow its path like in Survarium, I can deal with that. Although, it will follow a different story which I am kind of scared about. The whole story surrounding Strelok or his adventure into the NPP is what made it very interesting. To add to that, was the mystery that surrounded various areas in the game (which unfortunately never made it into the final release), like the Dead City, or the second NPP.
If Bethesda got the title, it may not entirely be like the orriginal STALKER, but I trust they would stick to the main plot of the story, like they did with Fallout series (they made their adjustments but kept most of the right factions and stories). And this is what I would want, rather than having the series just die and I am left in the cold as to what will happen next.
