Enkay's Mini Review of the AURIA EQ276W 27" LED Monitor from Micro Center - Page 3

OP have you experienced this with your monitor?

When i turn on my computer the display doesn't turn on until windows is loaded, (blank screen) this is a problem because i cannot see anything even if i press F2 or Delete i cannot see any BIOS settings, if i want to re-install windows 7 i cant because that requires use of the boot screen. anyone ever see this problem before?

when i hook up my other LCD it shows Boot screen like normal

Monitor: Auria 2560x1440 27"

windows 7

Anyone confirm or deny this? My local MC has 6 in stock and I was thinking about getting one. Not if I can't access the BIOS though.

I believe the video card is the deciding factor. I have one of the Korean 27" IPS monitors and am able to see the BIOS screen with both my Nvidia 8800GT and GTX 480. Apparently the card knows that the monitor can only do one resolution and in my case the video cards were able to do the scaling. The signal they were sending was 2560x1600 to the monitor even though the BIOS post is VGA (640x480).

I hope this helps your decision.

Is there a monitor club for this screen?
I ordered mine from MC, picking it up tomorrow.
Going to use this with the StarTech MiniDP to DP cable and my new Mac Mini.

If all is well, I'll consider getting another 2 by the end of the year.

Some observations:
  • Someone in another post said this monitor is not glossy at all, mine is glossy, lots of reflections.
  • Black levels are only average in a dark room (watching movies), and are nearly identical compared directly to a Samsung S27A350H. Even with brightness turned down both of these appear to me to have very washed out blacks next to a much older DELL E207WFPc TFT.
  • Colors are steady, and detail is good at all angles, but there is a wash of brightness coming from the sides and lower corners in darker images. Based on experience/memory the viewing angles are nowhere near as good as the Dell U2711 I use occasionally at work, but are slightly better than the Samsung. In a well lit room with brightness turned up the contrast and colors are fantastic, and the wash in the corners isn't really noticeable.
And now the problem:
Windows 7 identifies this monitor as a "BOEVT Co.,LTD. - Display - Boevt Terra2760WLED." -- I found another reference to a monitor with that ID in this thread on another forum. The pictures seem to show the same button panel on both monitors. The Nvidia Control Panel identifies the monitor as "TBD."
Win7 refuses to run the panel above 16-bit 1920x1080, and lists it as "1024x768 (native)", even with the supplied Dual-DVI cable. Pixels look soft/interpolated, so I feel this should be able to work at a higher resolution. Also tried VGA, HDMI, and Display Port on three other computers. All insist this is a "TBD" 1920x1080, all come up the same BOEVT Co. according to Win7.
There were three out of box returns at the store. I'm wondering if this is not the same panel everyone else is getting or if there's just something crazy wrong with this thing.
What does everyone else see identified in the display control panel?

Windows also list my Auria as TBD, it may be a chip in the monitor that is faulty, this one is also "open box" but it is working well, no problems that i can see,. My thoughts on why it is "open box" is because a Graphic designer who uses programs like 3DS Max saw that this monitor cost cheap and bought it.. got it home hooked it up only to see that its colors are slightly washed out, they cannot have that, so they brought it back and buy either a Mac or a Dell which has more accurate colors.. IMO

also i think the chip or parts in the monitor are cheap, but im not a graphic designer so.. thumb.gif

Just picked up the monitor today.
Windows 7 reports the monitor as "EQ276W".
Was able to push 2560x1440 through a GTX 460 DL DVI with the cable they gave me.
No dead pixels, no stuck pixels, no flickering anywhere. Beautiful display.
Construction IS a little on the cheap side compared to my ViewSonic VX2835wm, but in NO way bad, and totally acceptable.
The stand is not even close to decent, but hey it's a $400 monitor. It it IS 100x100 VESA mount compatible, nothing a stand from mono price can't fix.

Colors are a little washed. Turning on DCR makes it super bright and the whites are washed. Anyone have any recommended settings? It seems changing the ECO to Game or Movie makes it look real nice (exactly how i want), but i feel its not as contrasty as having DCR on.

Def gna have to put this side by side and make adjustments.

EDIT: my colors are actualy prity dang good for out of the box... they are a little washed, but no big deal at all... other then that, im just not use to how bright the monitor is tongue.gif (the other monitor i use is an old dell that is prity dim)

Yup same, got mine at the Tustin store. They are at 1 stock there now wink.gif
Yeah the HP they have running in the back is only HDMI. but you can still check for stuck/dead regardless.

What are your OSD settings btw?
I have mine set to ECO Movies and it looks vibrant, but the upper range of white is a little bright. Maybe i am not used to it. The blacks are real good, but not like DCR good.
DCR washes out any color around pure whites pretty bad. It's a pity I can't change contrast and brightness while DCR is on.
If i could figure out how to get DCR on but lower the intensity, i'd be set.

windows 7
I have the same issue. Can't see BIOS or post screens, even after spamming DEL/F2. Though I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being video card related as well.
When I was at microcenter today, the HP computer was hooked up to this monitor via HDMI and i could see the post screens of the HP computer. When i take it home and hook it up to my computer, no post/BIOS, but when I hook up the same computer to my other monitor, I see all post screens. :\ seems like hit or miss.

Sorry buddy.

Honestly, unless you are tweaking a lot with BIOS, i dont think it should be a big deal. Worst comes to worst, i just change the display to my old one for a few minutes while I work on BIOS stuff. Really a small price to pay for such an excellent monitor at a good price.
