It doesn't really feed from two usb2. The pinout is different.

I tried taking two of these 2x5pin duponts and it doesn't go in, their added width is too wide.

* * * * * - * * * *

The padding/spacing between the pin sockets are just too big. :\

Should be like this:

**********
*********

Like I explained earlier, every usb3 jack requires a 10-pin connector, but they have to be in a single row, you can't use the hd audio / usb duponts as those split the 10 pins over two rows (plus, each of those have 1 blocked socket so it creates a whole new incompatibility).

However, I can tell you that I split the front panel usb2 cable into two connectors. It usually goes into one connector and one usb header but for cable management purposes I decided to split them. It makes the motherboard look more "utilized" ie, filling the headers for more complete look. smile.gif

Good job! Everyone, search for coupon codes. Too late for the 20% by one day unfortunately, but "mod12" will take a little bit off at checkout.

Much appreciated, thanks! smile.gif

Here's a 10% discount coupon: share10 (sorry for not posting it earlier, it flew out of my mind)

To prove that 20-pin dupont works with usb3, Eric (moddiy) sent me this picture:

The cyan part suppose to be like any motherboard usb3 header.

If you check Chinese re-sellers on ebay, well they sell you 10 of these for 3$ & free shipping. I found a connector that's almost exactly the same so I messaged one seller and he told me he'll list the same 20-pin connector soon.
I was making an order anyway, so I went ahead and got the connectors. chump change, lol.

I see. My problem is, I threw down 400$ in orders on Moddiy so I'm pissed for having to spend another 10$ just for these dumb connectors. redface.gif

Ahhhh.... sweet! All this time I was under the impression these connectors are made by Molex.

I think I found it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HARWIN-M20-1071000-0-1-TERMINAL-HOUSING-10-10-WAY-10-PACK-/180891365514?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item2a1df7308a

It says the pitch spacing is 0.1". I wonder if that's the size needed for the motherboard header.

Edit: my dad just explained to me that 'pitch' refers to the distance between two centers of adjacent sockets, ie, between two pins. This means I will now use my brand new digital caliber to check that distance on the motherboard male header. If it's 0.1" then, we have a match. smile.gif

Edit 2: I just checked and it was nearly 0.1" so it will be probably fit. Turns out, not far away from my house, there's a Harwin distributor. Just sent them an email. smile.gif

1x costs 0.46$. Lol.

Anytime you can order from places like Mouser or Newark the prices are going to be much better. I didn't suggest that since I did not know what shipping to Israel would be.
and like I say I ordered the USB housing from modDIY only since I was already making an order, it just seemed more convenient.

There' a Mouser branch out here, I already called them but it was too late in the afternoon and now it's holidays. :\

Hey guys, slightly reviving this...I finally got the connectors (4x) and their corresponding pins (x80) from Moddiy. Thing is, he sent golden pins so I'm yet to scrutinize them and see whether they're same as regular dupont pins or a special type that fits only this specific connector. I will update you guys later on. smile.gif

I never used the connectors I bought. Instead I trimmed the plug housing down to the waxy substance holding the wiring with a hot xacto knife, and was able to slip some Techflex 3/8" sleeving over the cable.
Picked up the idea from cpachris in his BBBB build thread.

I checked it out. Hmm kinda nice but still not the way I'd want it. tongue.gif
