Hi,

I overclock so timings on the box are not really important, looking for quality IC's instead. I'm not too familiar with IC's but am looking to achieve 2133 cl8 or 2400 cl9 24/7. I was looking at the Mushkin 1600cl7 kit but that one is already maxed at 1.65v and I can't find which IC's that ridgeback set is using. Looking to spend no more than $300 but may go higher if needed. My 3930k's memory controller is stable at 2400Mhz memory so no concerns there, just my samsungs need 11-12-12-31 2t (trfc 150) to achieve it along with unsafe volts for 24/7. Please help me pick the best set!

Partly why I disliked my 3570k, besides the lower max clocks, the IMC could barely handle memory at 2200Mhz, same kit did at least 2600Mhz with every 3770k I've had.

Scorpion667, for 2133Mhz cl8 might want to look at used kits with PSC ICs, like the 2133Mhz 7-10-10 or 8-9-8 kits. They can do 2400Mhz but not necessarily at safe voltage.
for 2400mhz + at safe voltage, you would probably be best off with a kit rated for the frequency.

For a quick memory stability test superpi 32m is pretty good, it isn't very forgiving on unstable IMC or memory. Some guys use hyperpi although I've never tried that one. The samsung should be fine with that voltage, all ddr3 is specced by JEDEC to be able to withstand up to 1.85V or something close to that without permanent damage, intel chipsets are fine with 1.65V memory.

Lol, the quote was from a thread where the OP wanted to find the max multi his sandy bridge could boot at & someone was arguing that you can't use more than 1.35V vcore with sandy bridge since it wasn't safe.

Maybe if you take out two sticks.

Historically, 4 sticks will always be harder to OC than two, on dual channel systems, as it puts extra load on the memory controller.

raising trfc would help also, I have mine set at 147 for most memory configs on my particular set
