Looking for a 24 inch monitor.

I need to make a decision on a monitor today. I'm looking for:
-24 inch
-1080p
-LED backlit
-HDMI/Displayport (either or)
Primary use will be for gaming. Would this monitor be good for me?

That's a pretty good choice actually. It has everything you're looking and it has a low response time which is what you would be looking for in a monitor for gaming.

IMO for a $200 you should get the Dell MX monitors...

My roommate has one and it is amazing, 2ms, and excellent picture. thumb.gif

i have the "H" version of that monitor. I like it a lot, good color representation. The "Splendid" utility is nice but tends to do a little TOO much, and some modes can completely black out the screen in scenes with a lot of black.

On a side note, some have complained about ghosting in bright scenes with these monitors, but I haven't noticed..

I have narrowed it down to:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236154&Tpk=VE248Q
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236102
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236175&Tpk=VS238H

VE248Q vs VE248H: Any other difference other than one having Displayport and price?

VS238H-P: No built in speakers. Does that mean to have sound I'll need to buy external speakers? (Motherboard is a Maximus V Formula/ThunderFX by the way)

Between the VE248s, it looks like just the displayport that sets them apart, and the one with displayport has a slightly better pixel pitch.

For the VS238H, yes you need external speakers.

Unless you like glorified headphone speakers, you'll want something a bit better than the 2x1 watt speakers that come with the monitors rolleyes.gif
