Debating Upgrade 2700k vs, 3820 vs, xeon 2620 vs etc... - Page 2

I would just wait untill Haswell, Unless the 2700k can't handle whatever you do.

Speaking of which, If it's a very good clocker you should be able to get what you payed back for the 2700k no problem.

3930k is a beast though, and I'm not very informed on the Xeon's so can't speak much about them.

Great to hear that IB-E is still a go. I would have gone for Haswell, but I want to transition into the higher end range of CPUs, and Haswell E won't be until at least 2014. Going with the 3820 or the 3930k would be best. I think I'll probably end up with the 3820, but maybe I'll just wait a bit longer and get the 3930k.

Sorry to reply to a dying topic, but I just did a bit of testing to compare my current rig to some of the top CPUs out ther(3960X and 3930k). The results are absolutely shocking. I was wondering if any Linux users, or anyone really, can clarify what happened. Keep in mind that the whole test suite didn't run due to some dependency issues, and the two game tests were constrained to a max of 60fps on my system. The results are here: http://openbenchmarking.org/result/1208036-BY-1201213EG19
