Hi all, im interested in using tec element on my corsair h100 waterblock.
Havent seen nothing like this so i thought that its better to make concept first before trying to destroy do something.

One thing is unclear to me, how to make peltier work by getting pwm signal while getting power from psu?
And how to calculate needed cooling wattage for i5 2500k at 5ghz?

Any comments and suggestions are welcomed!

Sorry but H100 will not be able to handle the heat output from TEC needed to cool OC 2500K. Read the articles in this forum and you will understand cooling and pumping needs of Tec`s as well as power requirements. Good luck !

I dont think so, have seen ppl cooling their tec waterchillers by using kuhler 620.
But i dont know how to make tec work by getting pwm signal from motherboard, maybe somebody of you could help me? biggrin.gif

Funny, I bought a h100 a couple weeks ago to experment with this idea, I got busy and its on the backburner for the next week or so, but I'm going to get back to this..

I think it will cool a mild/moderate overclocked ivybridge adequately. I wouldn't put it on anything else though.

Im using sandy-bridge, but it would be interesting to see results of your experiment when you decide to do it smile.gif .
btw what kind of peltier your going to use? And would it cover whole block space or like in my scheme just the center leaving some space?
And how would you control that tec?

I'll build custom blocks for something like this. I'll be using a this tec

I'll be using this controller

hmm... why so much for single tec controller? Is it so hard to produce or components costs so much?
And if you could assist me,
which would be the cheapest and diy controller for single tec? tongue.gif because i cannot afford 109 dollars for one controller...

It's mostly because of the components. If you were to make a one off controller like the Arqtik, the PCB for the controller is $50+, and the PCB for the driver is $50+. Humidity sensor is $15 each so it's definitely not a high price due to gouging. The bottom line is, controlling a TEC, and TEC cooling in general isn't cheap. It's only cheaper than phase because you've hopefully acquired some gear along the way because of watercooling.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you want controlled TEC cooling for cheap.

I respect you guys and your controller but i dont need this kind of functionality, just the bare power input from ac (thought about laptop charger) and pwm power adjusting.

If you guys had 30-40 dollars for controller and you would need to power on the tec, how and what would you do?
I dont mind if it would be "ghetto" and i bet that im not the only one who would like to get minimal functionality but cheap controller.

And btw i would buy phase (building that kind of monster is too hard and time consuming to me biggrin.gif ) but im limited with space and i thought that it would be fun to integrate tec to the CLWC cooler like Corsair h100. How it sounds: Closed loop water cooling with integrated peltier element (CLWCWIPE) :DDD

You might get away with one of these: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/12V-15A-DC-Motor-Speed-Control-PWM-HHO-RC-Controller-/330770862937?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d037ad359#ht_5559wt_1163

But the problem is if the frequency becomes too high for a TEC, you lose power or function or something. I've always been pushed away from these because of that little characteristics but I've never seen one used yet.

Edit: This advertises a much lower frequency of 400hz.
