But go with the S3 since its new tech.

I have Nexus and its superb also with a custom rom and battery life lasts way longer.

If I were you I would hold out another couple of weeks and just get the Note II. I do some product reviews for my company and have tried out a lot in the last 2 years. I personally used to have the SGS2, and am using a SGS3 until the note 2 comes out, which I was going to just keep except the new note has everything I really wanted the S3 to have, especially the new exynos quad core chip which apparently Samsung was unable to get to work with LTE until now. Also if your looking to root your phone and flash some custom roms etc.. one piece of advice is it really comes down to what phone or phones are being well supported by devs, especially on XDA. Another thing to think about is if you don't like the size of the note, the new nexus is going to be here in a couple of months and will probably be the new hot device. That's a phone i'm very much looking forward too. If you need a phone right now, get an S3 or if you want to wait a couple of weeks and don't mind or like a .4-.6 inch bigger screen the note will have the 2GB of ram and the new exynos processor which is a monster. Although I recommend you going over to xda-developers.com and checking out the threads on the different phones, especially since you mentioned rooting and check out some screenshots of the various custom roms and what's going on in general with the community.

Galaxy Nexus... simply for having the LATEST and NEWEST version of Android right away out of the box. As long as you're on a GSM version.

Why spend money and sign a two-year Galaxy Nexus when OP can get a $350 off contract and deal with T-Mobile's $30 Plan (100 Minutes, Unltd Text/Data up to 5GB) or even AT&T.

Sorry but signing a 2-year contract on a Galaxy Nexus at this given time seems like a silly move at this time when a Galaxy Nexus 2 is coming out mid-November, early December. S3 is still acceptable with a two-year contract but, S4 is just around the corner next year Summer.

HTC One X WiFi and 3G/4G Internet connection problems still exist. My friend got it last week and he can't connect to the Internet half the time and it suddenly disconnects without any reason.

I am sorry for coming eons later to the party, but i didn`t know about this thread. I am confused that no one have told you that one x and samsung does not have nearly the same sensor.
One x haves bsi, f2.0, and their sensor have nothing in common with samsung, the only difference in s2 and s3 sensors are s2 haves f2.8 and s3 2.65, the real difference in samsung is the software ones, samsung also haves larger software noise reduction so the picture loses level of details.

all sensors in that category are the same size, 1/3".

They all make similar pictures, and all in all are not good one, but usable. My old canon a610 makes way better pictures.

I have N D5100 with 18-105vr and that old canon, beside one x.
