Best Place for Pre-Built Gaming Computers? - Page 2

I bought from Velocity Micro before I learned to build my own. They do a great job for the money, their customer support is all US-based, and they use all retail-grade components.

Your bro won't let you build it for him? all parts have at least a 1-yr warranty..most have 2-3 years..pre-built pcs + OCN..Those 2 don't mix so well.

I think your best bet would be a Digital Storm "Slade" for $1484. They make nice machines but the price premium definitely shows. CyberPowerPC and iBUYPOWER are horrible companies that use poor-quality parts in their badly-insured rigs. Maingear is far too overpriced (in this price range, at least).

Alienware isn't half bad. Look into the X51, a consumer grade gaming system with console-like familiarity... which may be right for the OP's friend.

Of course it's terrible for the money. The OP wants a pre-built system so we're pretty much looking at the lesser of the evils here.

The X51 comes with horribly under-powered graphics. You can't even upgrade beyond a GTX 555.

that digital storm one isnt half bad for what my friend wants. He doesnt care for the extreme high end stuff as much as we do, he just wants a solid computer.

If your not smart enough to put a PC together you probably shouldn't be using one either. ...But some how I doubt that is the case with your friend. Don't build the computer for him without showing him how. And if he is totally insistent on getting a pre-assembled system take it apart on him and help him put it back together. biggrin.gif

I recently went to a LAN party where one of the kids was explaining how he bought his PC from Alienware so that it would be professionally assembled... I really don't want to get started on these people.
