Thanks a ton! Sorry if my replies are brief im in Hawaii on vacation using an iPad smile.gif

Since you didn't say if you or he would OC it, I went with a CPU without an unlocked multi for both warranty & budget concerns.

Before GPU and Monitor - $969. This should leave enough for a HD 7950/GTX 660Ti through the site or newegg and a ~$150 monitor Moving to something overclockable is going to result in a lesser GPU [like a HD 7850] or dropping the SSD.

Intel Core i5-3570 3.4Ghz 6MB Cache Quad-Core
Stock Intel LGA1155 Heatsink and Fan
GIGABYTE GA-H77M-D3H (Intel H77, HDMI, 2xPCI-E, 6xSATA, 4xDDR3)
8GB (4GBx2) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1866Mhz Lifetime Warranty
64GB Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 SATA3 SSD
2.0TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA3 6Gbps (Major Brand) [ or substitute a WD Black 1TB ]
24X LG SATA Lightscribe Dual Layer DVD+/-RW DVD-RAM w/Nero
None, Unless Motherboard has Onboard video
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

What you should do is invite your friend over, show him a few builds online using your computer, then show him how much cheaper it could be if he bought from newegg. When he says he doesn't want to build it, turn off your PC and start tearing it down while talking casually to him about how easy it is. Then have him help build it back up real quick and boom, he just helped build his first PC. Had a buddy help install a new HSF on my brothers computer a few months back and he was hooked as soon as I took a side panel off.

Come on, do this idea!

ah. i've experienced this with my dad. he bought me a Q9300 prebuilt by the worst prebuilder in turkey. just cuz he thought there isnt any warranty when you buy them individually. thank goodness, my uncle understands me, hes an enthusiast too.
