ok i am new on this site and would like some help plz. this is my full setup:

antec 900 mid tower gaming case
amd fx-8120 8 core
gskill 8gb 1600 mhz
gtx 550 ti 1 gb
seagate 1tb hd
raidmax 1200 watt psu
dvd burner
asrock 990fx extreme 4

i have the stock fan. 3 120mm fans and 1 200 mm fan sucking air in the only one blowing air out is the rear 120mm fan , my room is 70-80f. my cpu temps range from 41c - 60c . the ac in my room isnt good but buying a new ac soon(a good one this time). is 60c too hot? i was told it will shutdown at 63c. if i could lower it by 10c id be happy. i dont even have the overclock enabled everything is stock even the bios.any help here would be great.

p.s.- im thinking of getting a cm tx3 or hyper 212.

some say 60c is max. I think 55 is a good safe peak temp running something like prime.

The back 120 and top 200mm should be exhaust.

I would suggest a good air cooler. How much you want to spend will determine which ones.

No Idea how much CFM the stock cooler moves but I can tell you that it is horrible and it is very loud. It is the same cooler that comes with Phenom II's. I would just get something better like the cheaper CM 212 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

55c is more then safe. At times I have ran my Phenom II under full load at over 60c for long periods of time with no issues last year before I discovered that my overall TIM spread was very bad.

I am also using the Antec 900 case but soon it is going to be retired when i get all my water cooling parts smile.gif

You won't be able to run the side fan in the Antec 900 with the 212+ since it is pretty tall and it is taller then my Zalman CNPS 9900MAX. I can't run my side fan either. You need to ask yourself if you really need the side fan? If it were me, i would go for the biggest HS/Fan I could fit in the case and to improve overall airflow, tie all your cables off to the side of the motherboard to allow unrestricted airflow to the CPU and GPU areas of the motherboard. I mount my HDD's in the lowest bays.

The way that I am forced to mount my Zalman with air being pulled off the GPU (because of my board's mounting bracket/Zalman's fixed muting system) and venting out of the case, air actually gets sucked in though the side.

if i did lose my side fan would it still lower the temps with the missing side fan? i just wanna lower my cpu temp by like 10c and i should be good. ill get liquid cooling or something better when i can afford a antec 1200 case

60c is safe. Thing is heat kills and it can take a year, 2years, 3years for death to occur

55c is safer for long life expectancy. wink.gif

How much CPU clearance do you have? Guessing it's about 140mm? This limits what coolers you can use. Tower cooler blowing back or up is my choice as it move hot CPU air out of case instead of blowing it everywhere.
