Alright guys, quick question...
Since I'm still new to folding, I'm trying to figure out if my PPD is good or not and if I'm doing something wrong.
I'm just running SMP client and GPU3 client on my desktop. I've got a almost gold chip i5-2500k @ 4.5GHz at 1.296V folding. That's giving me about 15k PPD. The data set is set to large on it.
My GTX580 is a reference Zotac card, overclocked either to 810Mhz or 890Mhz at either 1.050V or 1.100V depending on temps. I typically will fold @ 1.050V @ 54C and 1.100V at 58-60C depending on ambient. The antec 620 is really a life saver for folding, but I still feel 60C is too high for me for folding, but that's besides the point... My 580 is getting about 27-29k PPD. This dataset is small and I get about 5,500points per WU.
Total PPD depending on the GPU overclock can be anywhere from 40-44k PPD for both the CPU and GPU folding. I had a coil whine on my PSU I think but after folding on it for about a week it went away.
So, my question, is 40-44k PPD good for my rig? I don't plan on running a VM linux so maybe there's some tweaks I could do to get some higher PPD.
Thanks guys!
