Need help! Screen Flickering on ATI Radeon HD 7850

Hi everyone

I just got my new pc few days ago, and i notice something is probably wrong with my new computer. When i was playing games like GTA IV,Saints Row The Third and other games. I found out there are waves like/ horizontal lines screen flickering in games, where the screen jumping around/ moving up or down like something is messing with it. which is very annoying. Do anyone knows what is causing it ? i have everything to max settings including vsync on. Currently using ATI Catalyst Drivers 12.6

I only encounter this waves like screen flickering in all games sometimes it appear in gameplay and more often in loading and pause screen. not sure about in desktop and other applications yet though. could it be the adapter causing this ? i am using the DVI to VGA adapter that comes from the graphics card box. which i connect to my old Dell VGA 1024x768 monitor.

i found couple of links in the net might be related to my problems
forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=361982
www.wsgf.org/node/15402

I have another major problem with the sound quality on Windows 7. the sound quality on Windows 7 which is much worse than in Windows XP. in XP the sound quality is not the best, but it was decent.

In Windows 7 i am not sure how to describe it. all i know is the sound quality of it is very terrible. it's like very sharp or something like that and it could makes my ears bleed after listening to it for few mins, tried tweaking Realtek HD Audio Manager including equalizer and the very sharp sound still exist.

During in games i hear a buzzing sound played in the background coming from my speakers, when i quit the game and it's gone. Which is very weird. since i didn't hear any buzzing sound or noise at desktop or playing music and videos. I already did searching the net for quite a long time now. can't to find a fix to it. i really hope someone can help me with these problems.

I will be waiting for someone willing to help me with these problems i am having

i have already installed latest drivers and updates that are available.

here's mine new pc specs

have you checked the connections at the monitor, card, and the pci-e slot? it sounds like something is loose.

install previous drivers such as 12.3/4 or maybe the 12.7 betas, that may fix your problem for now

Let's try to isolate the problems first...

Have you OC'ed your 7850?
have you tried a benchmark/stress test on your 7850? (if it fails then something is wrong with your card)

Did you download the drivers from their respective Official Sites and not from other sites?
and when before you install it, did you removed the Old drivers?
on WinXP, the buzzing sound from the audio doesn't exist and only in Win7?

is the rig you tested the speakers on WinXP the same rig (and you just upgraded from WinXP to Win7)
or another rig?
have you tried testing another speaker or another cable? it could be your speakers or your connection...

Nope i did not overclock it since i am pretty new on overclocking pc and stuff like that. i didn't run any tests on my new system though. since it can run and play games fine the temps are 50c to 65c never hit at 70c though. any recommends ?

and of course i got the latest driver from ATI website themselves. i did that too uninstalled old drivers before try to install the new drivers.

Well i meant i used to have this buzzing noise sound exist on Windows XP too. but i found out what is causing it, was the microphone settings was turn on and i muted it and buzzing noise is gone.

But, this is very different on Windows 7 i didnt hear any buzzing noise at desktop nor playing videos and music. the buzzing noise appear only in games (which is very weird) along with wave alike screen flickering on screen. and of course tried that method in Windows 7 getting same results. if i turn vsync on i get less screen flickering but it's still there. if i turn it off mass screen flickering. Even with vsync on games, there's noticeable screen flickering appear during gameplay

And i got fed up trying to fix my audio problem in games. went to uninstalled Realtek audio drivers. Currently using Microsoft HD Audio driver which solved the very sharp sounds that i am having. but the buzzing noise still exist in games frown.gif

I mention about Windows XP that was on my old PC before it died. graphics card artifacting. This is my new bulit pc with a CoolerMaster 431 elite chassis if i remember correctly

I already tried everything trying to fix these issues. uninstalled drivers, install older video drivers. checked whether are cables inserted properly but i am getting the same results frown.gif.

i just finished taking out my graphics card and put it back inside. load up windows try some of the games. and the screen flickering still exist !!. i suspect it could be the adapter causing me issues. since i got no spare monitors to test. i might get one with DVI.

here's more links to peoples that are having problems with this card

some peoples manage to fix the flickering by overclock it or something like that. should i turn on AMD Overdrive ?
