If I get this laptop at home fixed, ill do it and my desktop, side by side, freshly installed browser, and hit enter to load ocn at the exact same time, ok?

Yet this won't mean a thing considering the hardware differences between the laptop and desktop. And even if you did it, would you record it with a screen recorder...otherwise we'd just be taking your word for it.
That'll work...

It's all down to personal preferences though.
Chrome for those who run a bare browser without addons or anything. Like the thumbnails screen, loathe the web-store.
Firefox for those who like adding plug-in functionality

Personally I use chrome since I don't like having tons of toolbars and buttons lying around in my low-res screen, but switch over to firefox when I need the functionality/separate cookies. Works great as a guest browser too since they both don't share each other's cookies.

For loading a page, the difference between an i3 and an i5 2500k shouldnt be that much different, or different at all....I could do that, or record a video with my phone or something. Either way, my opinion of what I have personally experienced is Chrome being better.

FF has only been faster for me when I hadn't synced it so it didn't have the same add ons that I have in chrome. They're pretty much the same "fast" after that though I at times think FF is faster since it seems to load the page in pieces were as in chrome it only ever loads the whole page in one swoop for me. That said...FF has always bothered me with page rendering in zoom and fonts. I know Chrome supposed to be the odd ball at that but I just find it easier. Especially, with the whole Adobe dropping flash in Gnu/Linux.

All browsers on a decent desktop or laptop which many of us at OCN have will run within a comparatively small margin of each other.

On a slow PC or underpowered computer like my Cedar-trail-powered-netbook, Chrome is absolutely the quickest at loading, the lowest in resource usage, and the simplest browser.

I can't speak for others, but only Safari and Chrome worked very quickly on an Atom N2600 with a GMA. On IE and Firefox, flash liked to lag and scrolling was slow to respond. I didn't try Opera.

We all have our preferences, too, of course.

Interesting. On my N450 FF was the fastest and lightest (used less RAM). Maybe it's because of the version?

On older hardware, Chrome runs noticeably faster for me. If I'm using an older single-core machine like an Athlon XP, Chrome wins every time. I actually recommend it to anyone still using something that decrepit.

But when you have modern CPU power and memory, who cares? They're all fast enough. Then I use the one I like best, and that is Firefox.

Chrome is just better lordikon. Its also more secure which is THE most important thing.

And frankly (and its been 2 years) Firefox was becoming a crashfest. On a fresh install of Windows 7, 2 years ago when I switched to Chrome finally, Firefox was crashing over the most insignificant of webpages. You know what the culprit was? The plugins. Those firefox plugins are just pieces of disaster waiting to happen. Most of them aren't that functional and on top of that are security holes waiting to be exploited.

No, no thankyou firefox. I appreciate you being better than Internet Explorer for many years but a new contender is in the ring that's Faster, safer, and just more stable. Her name is Chrome.

Honestly Chrome has just as good of addon support as FF.

They both can use Flashblock / Adblocker.

If you are a redditor, RES works on both too.

I just personally like the look and feel of Chrome. Switched from FF soon after release, never going back.

I like Chrome...but what is it that makes it "just better"? The sandbox thing or what because I still don't have those crashes or RAM leaks in FF but I get them at times with Chrome (though they relate to using Flash sites and for some reason flash kills chrome for me).
