[Kickstarter] Eternal Fate, by Escalation Studios

What is Eternal Fate?

Eternal Fate is a labor of love that we've been working on for about a year. We are huge fans of Action RPG games and have been disappointed with lack of competitive gamplay in most games in the genre. We set out to fix that.

Our goal with Eternal Fate was to create a PC and Mac game that felt like our favorite action RPG games, yet had a level of organized competitive play traditionally found in online first person action games.

Who are you guys?

We're a team of veteran game developers who have individually worked on hit titles such as Borderlands, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and many others. We've been together as a team for around five years and to date we've primarily done work for hire projects for other companies. We have been trusted to build products for industry leading companies such as id Software, Sega, EA, and Warner Bros. We've invested the bulk of our profits back into Eternal Fate. It's time for us to "level-up" and start making and releasing games for ourselves.

Source

Just went up on Kickstarter, looks pretty interesting. Apparently it's almost complete but they've run short on funding. Hopefully kickstarter can save this game so we'll actually have a chance to play it.

Here's an in-game screenshot. They have a gameplay video at the source as well.

So it is like Bloodline champions?
With level and gear?
that is actually level and gear and not for the sake of micro-transaction like bloodline.

graphics look really impressive. the DOF and flying leaves are quite nice
gameplay looks quite fun but i don't think it will be "competitive" given how casual it looks

It's interesting to see how some kickstarters jump up to thousands of backers in a day while others go almost unknown with very few backers. I wonder what makes some of them go viral?

I think's it's mostly "throw it at the wall, and see if it sticks". The "sticks" part being mainly word-of-mouth marketing, so to speak. Just a guess on my part.

Yea, it's just amazing to see some products like Ouya in the millions of dollars on the first day. It must be word-of-mouth over things like twitter and facebook.

EDIT: Posted a video in the OP.

I think that you are asking a question that double doctorates in Psychology have been trying to figure out for Corporate marketing for years.

How does one quantify "coolness" ?

Seriously good question.

One of the devs from the Eternal Fate team here. (and one of the silly looking dudes in the video)

Trust me, this is a question we're asking ourselves right now.

Make cool product - check
Make polished video - check
pay PR agency to put out press release - check
show the public the game in person - check (we're at quake con all week)

By no means are we throwing in the towel, but creating that groundswell of grassroots support sure isn't easy.

DaXxJaPxX, Thanks so much for backing our project. We truly appreciate it!

Others, Feel free to spread the word. Eternal Fate is a really cool and fun game and we'd love to have you as part of our community!

Cheers!
