Need help finding new printer.

Thread Starter
My boss at work has enlisted me in finding him a new printer. 90% pictures and I would like to spend less than 200.

I have not bought a printer in a long time so I don't know where to start.

Thanks!

Do you print many pictures? Will it do 4x6 edge to edge?

Just did a quick test print. The photo looks good. It's not as good as something like Costco's. But it does the job. There's not a lot of blur on the photo. And 99% of everything can be seen clearly. Also yes, it does 4x6, but there's this white strip when the print came out on one of the 4" sides.

I don't know if it's too late to put in a suggestion, but you might also look at the Canon Pixma lineup.

I purchased the MP640R a year or more ago when it was half off at BestBuy ($199 for $99). I was so impressed after the first day that I bought another for the house. Since then I have installed 4 more, 1 for my wife at work, 1 for my boss at his house, and 2 for others here at my office.

My original intent was to have a dedicated photo printer, and it definitely handles the job. For work, I have to print a lot of 4"x6" borderless prints and folks can't tell the difference between them and a traditional print. It's fairly easy on the ink and uses a 5-cartridge system, (CMYK dye-sub and 1 larger black pigment cartridge for document printing).

The wireless is extremely easy to set up, which was one thing I personally didn't like on the HP's I've tried.

It has 2 paper feed sources and auto-duplex printing.

I'm not sure what the current models are since I haven't needed to shop for a printer in awhile, but if you google Canon Pixma, you should find them.

Just my 2c worth...hope it helps,

Rich

Thanks for the suggestion! I hate HPs software right now though, its a nightmare to do anything wirelessly. +rep:thumb:

Buy whichever one is on sale for $35, use it until it runs out of ink, then give it to Goodwill and buy another one.

I just hope he's a little more tech-savvy than my boss. I had to set up another wireless network just for him because he kept sending print jobs to my printer... tongue.gif
