How many years has it been to create a classic FPS like this?

That trailer made me throw money at it and i was a fan of the original RoTT too

Looks rad, I would pay $20 for this. Now if only they would remake Blood, Redneck Rampage and Samurai Warrior

Nice! I still have the original full game, bought a few years after it came out (I had played the shareware version when it did), but never got to play it to the end. I didn't even know it had all those modes! I think I have to find some time between my Steam games to play the classic in preparation for this new one!

I still remember when the original came out, it featured a much improved engine over the original Doom engine, upon which it is based.

Thanks for sharing 5entinel!

I really hope this remake does not have today's generic FPS elements, health regeneration, linear gameplay, weapon limits, etc. If it does, this game is doomed to fail because I liked the original.

It doesn't look like it will, on Destructiod.com the guy mentioned it plays like Quake 3. There should be a preview coming soon from them...although the guy didn't seem that impressed by what he played, given it was an alpha build.

Redneck Rampage was probably the funniest game that I have played in my entire life. If they could update it, but keep it true to it's original form, they could have my money.

Redneck Rampage was hilarious and I loved Samurai Warrior.

I miss the days when games just had some sort of mystic quality to them. The wonder of virtual environments is not magical anymore and I think that is why a lot of these remakes seem to fail. Things aren't new like they were back in the days of these games. Playing Duke Nukem 3D and feeling real in depth interaction with a virtual world for the first time made me enthralled - I also I remember when Unreal first came out and when you emerged from the crashed space ship and saw the hut and pond with the water fall down to the lake on your left. Those games / moments were new in a world of unsaturated gaming and the elements of excitement, new experiences and being young made gaming so different.

I feel like I want to play this game so badly because it is a throw back, but there is nothing new for us to see or experience and in the end it will just be another reason to remember how gaming used to feel and a reminder of how it feels now.
