6950 not going into 2D clocks.

Alright, for some god-awful reason MSI afterburner is not allowing my card to go down to idle 2D clocks. So it runs the card idle at 900/1325 and therefore my card idle at 53*C. Now, when I am able to get it to properly go into 2D mode, it only idles at 35*C and uses much less power. Does anyone know why it might be doing this?

In MSI Afterburner, you should have at least 2 profiles set up, 1 underclocked or at stock, the second at max or OC plus whatever you want in between.

I always save Profile 1 as stock and 5 with my biggest OC.

Then on the settings page (click seting on main screen), select the profiles tab, the last option is for "Automatic profiles management"

Select your low setting profile for 2D, and your high settings profile for 3D.

Now your card should run at the low settings when only 2D applications are running, as soon as you open a 3D app it should switch to the higher profile.

If it does not select the lower setting then view your running processes and se if there is anything running that would cause it to use the 3D profile.

If all this is correct then it will need looking into more, so let me know.

I had already done all that. Still didn't work properly. But don't worry about it, I installed EVGA Precision and it works fine...funny that the OCing program not really meant for ATI cards works fine.
