MSI 7950 TwinFrozr3? Buy?

Hey everyone, I'm currently running two 4870s, and looking for a single card upgrade. I was wondering if this card is the best bang for its buck, and a good buy all around:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667

At 330$, and what seems to be many 5 stars (disregarding unlucky DOAs), I think this is the card.

I got the idea from this tom's hardware thread i saw in another post after doing some forum searching:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7950-review-benchmark,3207-14.html

So, is a new generation coming out soon? a price drop maybe? (I'm aware you never "wait" in technology since it always moves fast, but I mean near future stuff) I'm open to better performance/price ratio cards and nvidia as well.

great card, so i have heard.
mine is sitting right here waiting for me to put on the waterblock. (all my parts have shown up for my rebuild)
i am replacing sli 460s with it and i hope, one in the near future.
mine came with the reference 7970 pcb (6+8 pin connector) as has a lot of the newest ones bought.
i say buy it.

i cant wait to see what kind of oc i can get out of it.

Buy! I asked the same question like a week ago and then bought one. Fantastic GPU. Mine also has a 7970 PCB so whenever I move on to water cooling, I can get some water blocks.

Its one of the best HD 7950 OC cards with a good price. clock for clock HD 7950 is 3 - 5% slower than HD 7970. So you aren't going to miss anything at all. Just overclock the card to 1.15 Ghz and get yourself a card which performs more like the Radeon HD 7970 Ghz edition. thumb.gif

Definitely a good investment, you could sell both your cards to lower the new card cost thumb.gif

Lol, i don't mind the hijacking at all! I learn a lot from this site, so good questions are good questions. I'm liking the responses to this thread, so it seems like the way to go.

Lastly, whats all this talk of the 7970 PCB... Does that mean they're essentially gimped 7970s? If I don't get the 7970 PCB should I RMA it and try to get that? or is that mainly for people who want to waterblock it? Will it affect overclock?
