Title is definitely sensationalist though.

The OUYA post is straight up, but the PCMag article is...

Regardless, by signing with Vevo they've defeated the purpose of being independent and open.

Vevo has essentially ruined Youtube. It will likely do that same thing here.

Um, yeah all I see is our kickstarter is ending in a week and we have partnered with Vevo. You can't ditch kickstarter, unless you mean canceling the project, kickstarter is just a fundraising platform. There isn't some long term work to do with kickstarter 0.0.

Ditching is the sensationlist title. I know what Kickstarter is.

And yeah, the title is misleading. Their kickstarter campaign ends in 6 days, then they are partnering with VEVO. No one is ditching anyone, except ditching independence for cash flow...

well if its that open source as they say then someone would probably make something similar to abp or abp might make one for the ouya.

They are not. I don't know why people insist on misleading headlines (I lied, I know why, they do it for the views) but they are in their last week of their Kickstarter. The Kickstarter is the only reason they are attracting these partners.

I would truly love to believe that, but find it hard when they partner with a company who's primary source of income is advertising*. You really think they would let go that easily? But I guess I'll hold off judgement until the platform matures.

Vevo on devices is an application. Likely only going to be advertisements within it's application. Partnering with Vevo to be the main media center application to be different than the smart phone one, in which it will fit with the normal tv res.

What a joke. Bye Ouya. They are finished before they even got started. So disappointing. It was easy to see this coming, that interview that someone posted a few weeks ago it was obvious they had something up there sleeve and it's called maximum exploitation.

Access music videos from your favorite artists like JAY Z, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Shakira, Kings of Leon, The Killers, Big K.R.I.T., Florence + The Machine, John Mayer and P!nk when you want them and where you want them: on your big, shiny television!
Thanks, but no thanks.

This. They missed the point of Kickstarter and why these people offered them their money. I can see some people pulling out of this now. I know I would.
