Hard Mouse pad (SS 4HD) + Razer DA Good idea?

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a DA to replace my gunked up, 4 year old, cheap "BTC" mouse. For 38 dollars, I found it quite a steal and bought it right off the bat.

I've been wondering, is it worth buying this mousepad? I've been looking at the Steelseries 4HD for quite a while now, but I do not know if it is compatible with the deathadder. Does anyone have problems with this mousepad?

I have been using the generic 3 dollar Wal-Mart mousepad for a few months and now, it's starting to fray.

Deathadder is compatible with many surfaces. No problem with the ss4hd.

Just be sure to get some replacement mouse skates (Puretrak, Hyperglides...), because default ones aren't the best (too thin), and with hard mats, they usually wear down faster.

You won't need 50 sets, but two or three sets of feet per year -if you're not a low sensitivity hardcore gamer, then it would be more- should be more than enough.

To be perfectly clear, it's not needed but it is highly recommendable.

Gamers should never use cloth mouse pads. They provide a"cushioning" effect for the mouse when you press down on them, which messes up tracking in the heat of battle. Always use a "hard" mouse pad. Cloth pads are now obsolete, and are guaranteed to hinder performance.

I have both the steelseries qck+ cloth and 9HD hard plastic mouse pads, and I must say the 9HD is way better than qck+ in terms of everything, I was surprised on how my performance got better and I had no problem tracking on targets, unlike when I was using qck+, I was applying too much strain on my arm and mouse to achieve the same amount of performance, now am thinking of getting razer scarabs for the g700 to see how good will perform compared to the 9HD

I use my DA with the Rocketfish mousepad.

I love that combo and I feel that the Razers are best on hard surfaces. At work my desk has a laminated top that's like the "speed" side of the Rocketfish pad. I use a Razer DB directly on that surface.

I didn't know anyone still used cloth pads. With hard you'll have to keep the pads clean, the pick up dirt etc.

Just got 4HD today. Must say, it performs a thousand times better than my old walmart one. Tracks pretty well with the deathadder.
