I'm moving into a campus apartment in a few weeks for school. I was looking at the living guide, and it says:
The adapter I use here at home (ASUS USB-N53 Black Diamond) has an AP mode that will share internet. I was assuming I'd just use that if I needed to get online with my PS3 or my tablet.
I don't think it'll cause any problem seeing it's not a router. But, I'm not all that up on networking, so I may be complete off.
I really don't want a router, and don't know if I call up, and ask if they'll just be adamant about the router.
Quote:
Each apartment is equipped with an Ethernet port located within the apartment. Routers are NOT to be hooked up to the Ethernet port because it will cause the entire internet system for a section of apartments to reset and stop all internet activity for the section of apartments affected. If wireless internet is desired contact TAC to buy a FSU approved and programmed wireless access point. Use of a router can result in your internet service being disconnected from your apartment.
