Guild Wars 2 doesn't like ATI?

So playing on my rig during stress test today I noticed when it got pretty crowded I was getting mid 20's low 30's as my frame rate. Others with lesser cards such as a GTX 670 were getting above 70 all the way up to 110 frames per second maxed out right next to me. My GPU % kept dropping to 30 - 70% usage and my CPU cores were all Below 60%. What do you think is the issue here? I'm running latest drivers.

u have to turn off anti ali and tessalation then you should be good thumb.gif

note guild wars 2 is still in Beta. i was running an average of 40-50fps with my GTX 570. the game is pretty horribly optimised at its current state. when the full version comes out it will be fine. just like what happened with guild wars 1. so yeah don't fret

I get around that in very crowded areas as well OP. Even though it is low I still don't notice it to much compared to 60ish.

The game is almost out, there aren't many changes they can do anymore as it runs the risk of breaking the game. Especially low level engine changes which hasn't been changed for months now. I'm in the industry, I know how these things work so not many optimizations will be made from here to then.

Beta was DX9 only so there was no Tesselation.

AA was on FXAA so it has minimal impact and with all settings on low I was only getting 10 fps more.

Consider the following:
1. It's still a beta regardless of when it is dated for release
2. Drivers haven't matured for it yet
3. An ATi 7970 doesn't exist. The AMD 7970 on the other hand.**

True but the most recent patches and updates to it have been mostly getting the content onto the release server and server patches to handle lag and what not. We are way past Engine unit testing and optimization.

Drivers are such a mystery. I really have no idea how they "work" on them for certain games unless they just put profiles for each game.

ATI/AMD watevs.

well I'll say this, my 7950 is doing fine in all my other games, but today it kept freezing in GW2 stress test. I alt+tab out and the game cursor stays on screen and I can't close the game or interact with anything on my desktop. I had to restart my pc twice. Not 30 feet away, my brother is playing the beta test looking smoother and sharper than ever, meanwhile he is using a 7850 and the same driver version (12.7) as me. same cpu too. I think this one's on Anet.
