Start fresh or upgrade?

Thread Starter
I'm new to the forums, and am planning on learning a lot.

I'm planning on upgrading my OLD (over 6 years and counting) Compaq Presario computer. But would it be better if i were to 1. start anew (new case, motherboard, processor, etc, etc...), or 2. start replacing stuff? For either one, which parts would you guys recommend--though, prefferably for a Intel Celeron D 335J 2.8 GHz processor (the one i'm planning on getting; unless, of course, you'd recommend a better one)?

If you MUST go with a Celeron, go for a 356.

Well as Parts for the Compaq Era of technology have ceased production and in todays standards will be very old tech it will be better and more worth while to start a New PC.

I don't have to go with a Celeron, i just picked it cause i've seen some nice performance from it.

And so far, the votes are for starting fresh. Any parts recommendations?

Start fresh, 6 year old compaq wont get you anywhere, just keep the OS if its XP and maybe the screen unless you want something better.

Its simply the Main Tower unit that needs to start a new fresh. Keep the Screen and Keyboard and such as that saves money.

How much is your budget?

Prefferably any part that is under $200-$150, if possible. I'll purchase each part whenever i have the money. I'm not planning on building a new comp any time soon, just would like some recommendations on the latest hardware.
