The ones that are yellow white and red are composite. Non-HD.

This is why I want to get to the bottom of this so badly.

Is this what component cables look like?

Ok this is component video as it is labeled. However you are using the wrong cables. The cable would look like this http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...ormat=2&style= the red, blue, green are the component while the white and red are the audio. Now for the PS3 you need to use that far right connection as that is the only one that will accept a HD input of 1080i so your TV has no "P." Then you can hook the Wii up to either of the other two. This is the best map I can draw you without physically being there. And your TV is too old to have a HDMI connection or DVI. Also dont worry about the H and V next to your component connection on the right just leave them alone.

Judging from the pics; it looks like your older Mitsubushi TV only has one HD capable input. It appears it can take both the "RCA" standard or the "Panasonic" (component video) standard. The older "RCA" standard which was used excluslively on RCA's DTC-100 HDTV tuner used the same type of connection as a computer monitor on the back of the boxes. Older RCA HDTVs used the VGA connector but others using the similar standard instead split the cable up on the TV end into "red, green, blue, horizontal sync, and vertical sync."

The "Panasonic" standard is the component video (YPrPb) standard which is now the commonly used HDTV connection today until either DVI or HDMI takes over completely. Your TV can take both signals but if your're running a PS3 or Xbox 360; you'll be using component into the "DTV" section.

Being an older CRT based projection TV; the only HD resoultion it will do is 1080i. Newer HDTVs do 720P and 1080i; I think only the newest plasma displays and DLP sets support 1080p. I read that the PS3 will not output 1080i which is what older HDTVs use but Sony is working on a firmware patch for that since it turns out many had older HDTVs that didn't work with the PS3. I wonder if your Mitsu will convert 720p to 1080i but that may or may not work. You can read about it here: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=14554

The Nintendo Wii, I think, does 480i or 480p so you should have no problem hooking it up to any of the component inputs. They have instructions for setup here:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sys...Components.jsp

You'll need this cable: http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs...encyPreference
