TO 670 SLi, or not to 670 SLi.

Alright, so I got one of those new 1440p monitors - well had it, getting a replacement, be here next week.

But my single 670 was doing a bang up job from what I had seen - Except in a few games, such as Metro 2033 or games along that vein.

Some games run well and didn't increase much in GPU usage, to my surprise. Mostly console ports. BF3 ran OK, but I had to turn off AA and alot of stuff to medium and it looked worse than it did @ 1200p /w 4XAA.

And game requirements will also go up.

The Korean monitors have no scalers, so they let graphics card do it, and I tried 1080p in a few games and for some reason it was blurry as all hell, AA or no AA, I think this was due to the GPU not being a good scaler, not sure?

So it seems prudent to run in 2560 x 1440p regardless.

Hence where my GTX670 seems limited - ArmAII, a well known to be unoptimized game ran pathetically poor.

So I was wondering if picking up another 670 would be worth it?

From what I see, it's a straight 100% increase in performance. I am thinking of it because Crysis 2 +HD Textures = 36FPS according to reviews, but SLi, 68FPS. A very noticable difference.

Or should I hold off? Should I wait for Kepler, then sell my 670 and move on up to a slice of amazing? No news, on that lately, eh? Very few Kepler rumors this past month.

Basically doubling my performance...

A debate for the ages.

I spent 2 weeks trying to decide whether to add a 2nd 670. One minute I'd talk myself out of it, saying that 1 only really needed 1 card for 1080p 120hz gaming, and that I shouldn't invest too much in a 600 series card, as I'd never get much back for them when the next gen came out.... then the next minute I'm telling myself that I should just blow the money on the 2nd card to make my system really perform well, and be able to push games at 120fps, and don't worry about the cost, I can sell both card and put the money towards an SLI 700 or whatever they get called setup when the next gen comes out.

In the end I did it, and don't regret it.... certain games you can't really notice much if any difference in FPS, but other ones.. BF3, Skyrim, F1 in 3d... they all run soo much better, and I'm only at 1080p! So with your higher res.. I say do it!

What are the games you play. Because a single GTX 670 overclocked can easily handle 1440p . You can run BF3 at slightly lesser settings , like Ultra 2x MSAA and still get close to 60 fps. Do you really play Arma II ?
