Dislike: Apple

Would you consider a refurbished laptop?
No

What are the primary tasks you need this notebook for?
Web Surfing, Office and Productivity Software, Listening to Music, Photo Editing, Video Editing, Video Chat and Conference, Movie Streaming and Viewing, Output Video to TV or Large Monitor, Graphic Intense 3D Gaming

Basic College Use, Gaming and MUSIC.

What games will you be playing?

Where will you be using this laptop?
Will be used different places and Will stay on desk

How many hours of battery life do you need?
6

Do you prefer a glossy or matte screen?
Glossy or Matte is fine

Is the laptops design important to you?
Yes. It has to look SEXY

Approximately what date will you be buying this laptop?
Around 08/25/2012

How long do you want this laptop to last?
4 years

How much storage capacity do you need?
500 GB, can negotiate on this if i get a SSD

Are you interested in SSD for storage?
Yes! VERY MUCH!

Do you want a built-in optical drive, what type?
No

Few More Details:

The laptop has to have i7 or atleast i5, 3rd gen goes without saying.
The sound quality and the screen MUST BE AWESOME.
I would love to have a possibility for overclocking , though I probably won't do it, but it is good to know that I can.
The laptop should be portable, because i will be carrying it around a lot, so Ultrabook or "sleekbook" probably?
A physical laptop lock feature would be appreciated.
I would do a lot of Multitasking too.
I can go for a Mac if it can run Windows properly.

I think this should cover everything. And is there anywhere which provides special student discounts and offers?

PS: Should i wait a little bit longer because new models are coming at an alarming rate?

Thanks!

I've always liked the look of the Asus G series laptops - most come with dual HDD support so you could throw in an SSD - also some great security features as well such as biometrics and lojack thumb.gif

I would go the way of the m14x from Alienware...It has sexy all over it...I am paitently waiting for my m17x to come it.

Also if you are a current student, they have a free xbox 360 deal going on with any laptop purchase over $699...If you not a student yet, then give them a call and I bet you can get them to offer up some sweet discounts...They did for me. And if you already have a xbox 360, then they will give you a $200 gift card for a future purchase instead...I would def give it a look.

while the Alienware may "look" sexier, for the price it is not even competition for the Sager - screen size (14" 1600x900 max vs. 15.6 1920x1080) and GPU (650m vs. 670m). Alienware would be a lot better if you werent paying extra dollars for name recognition and "gamer" branding

getting the xbox for free is a nice treat and could be sold for $200 to make up the price difference perhaps... but still they are not in the same league.

Call Dell when you order it and you would be surprised as to how much you can get them to take the price down...

everything you need for under $1200

As much as i appreciate the specs, the laptop doesn't look good at all, looks like really old model.

I guess alienware is more feasible than G series

Does Alienware have awesome sound? Both speakers and sound card wise?

Honestly, my friend is going through the EXACT same Issue you are (down to the budget), Heres What I suggested, look into an AMD A10 laptop such as

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214893

and then use the rest of your budget to throw together a cheapo Desktop

The A10 gives a solid quad core preformer with great graphics capability pricewise, and you can always upgrade the desktop later
