Telus Faking Highspeed? What to say to Technician?

Thread Starter
Since last Saturday my connection has been on the very slow side. I've been on a plan that gets me a 2.5-3mbps download speed for years and recently have been getting less than 1mbps mad.gif I talked to 2 online Telus Reps and the first tried telling me I didn't have a high speed plan, which he tried checking with the network department only to have it close while he was waiting in queue (1hr 30min wait for nothing) The second one tells me that the quality of the line here is very poor, so they are sending a technician over today to troubleshoot the issue. In the past this has happened and I was told to call it in because it was usually a Telus side problem and it would be fixed in minutes. This is the first time they are sending a technician and I really feel like complaining about the quality service. If you were in my shoes, what would you say to the technician?

If I were in your shoes, then I'd print that post and make him read it (in a respectful way, of course).

Then I'd ask him how it's possible that the line quality is poor when this slow-down only started happening last Saturday (again, in a respectful way obviously).  If it were poor, then surely this would have been a problem from the very beginning unless something outside reduced the line quality, such as perhaps an animal doing something to it.

That's all I can think of.

I think it is an issue on Telus's side for sure. We has some crazy lightning storms the past week, so maybe that did something to a piece of hardware or something? I once had a Telus modem fry because of a lightning strike 30 feet from my house. All I know is I'm sick of these slow speeds and I'm ready for it to be back to 3mbps download. I may also see how much more money a higher speed connection will cost or maybe complain enough to get a discount LOL biggrin.gif

Edit: Here is my pitiful speedtest.net result

Update: This entire issue was like all the other times before this, an issue on the Telus network. Something about a port being messed up? The tech troubleshooted a couple points in the house getting shocked in the process because a buddy called biggrin.gif also got a new modem to replace the ancient one I had thumb.gif

The connection is better then before, can't get any faster because of my location

I don't know if Shaw is available to you but I would recommend using shaw. My mother used Telus for years when I was growing up and when I moved out on my own I switched to Shaw. I'm 10000x happier not being with telus anymore.
