Telus Faking Highspeed? What to say to Technician? - Page 2

I figured I would update this thread considering what has just happened. I noticed yet again my speed was slow, did a speedtest and sure enough the speed is below what gets paid for. It read 1.62mp/s download and 0.64mp/s upload. I contacted Telus via their online chat and after an hour of doing that I was told that the port needed to be reset. After waiting for that to be done which took another 20 minutes I get a phone call from the rep I was talking to online. She tells me that the port is no longer open in my area and I now have to stick with these slow speeds. She tells me something about redirecting me to another Rep and then I get hung up on! I am down right furious with the outcome of this because I now have a slower internet connection then before I called her mad.gif

Could be they moved you from the Remote to the Central Office.
Usually farther it also removes your maximum speed for your connection since your signal is weaker.

One thing you can also try is posting your line stats as that my help us analyze if it is a physical problem.
You also could be syncing at a slower link speed.

Could be, but for some reason all they would say is the port is now closed and suggested I get my Mom to contact customer care so they can downgrade the package from 2.5 to 1.5 so we are no longer paying for something we are not getting. I highly doubt this is a physical problem on my end because they already admitted that the problem is we are no longer able to get the 2.5mbps speed we have been getting all these years. I am seriously considering dropping Telus as an ISP and possibly switch to the only other ISP available to us, which i believe is NetLink
