I have so much data here it will take me a week to sort it out. I did find that the ap-15s wont mount to the 3 big tower coolers since they have closed corners. For the extra fan question above look at the stock run then the 3 fan run.

the phanteks LOVES high airflow fans.. and for me i gained 3 degrees (maybe more with higher Vcore) with a 3rd fan installed over the noctua/SA wich i had too

have no idea why, the only difference i see between them its the wider/deeper fins.. mother than that have no idea

Hey man great thread, appreciate the PM, I see you point about the Assassin being slightly better than the NH-D14
but the temps under load of the Phanteks compared to both of them are much better

I do alot of gaming so under load would be the part I would have to focus on, and I never really run my pc idle as whenever it's on
I'm doing either design work or heavy multitasking

Still though really appreciate the testing as I've been looking for something like this for about a week now
so this is fantastic thumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gif

just need to find the phanteks at a reasonable pric

Gaming load temps aren't anywhere near Prime/IBT etc... When gaming, the difference between any of the coolers in this test is pretty much irrelevant smile.gif

For example: Using the K2 (Assassin), my 2500k @4.5ghz stays in the low-mid 50'sC in BF3/Sleeping dogs etc (Ambient: 21-25C, fan speeds 800- 1000rpm).
Would I be better off with a Phanteks for this just because it goes a few degrees cooler in tests that don't reflect real world usage?

Seriously, unless you're addicted to running Prime95, just pick the one that fits, looks nicest and makes the least amount of noise if that concerns you smile.gif

The assassin is much better than I thought it was going to be. Plus I was able to land one bnib for $55. But thanks for liking the thread. It took many days an long hours of watching a screen an thermometer to do this thread.

Don't get me wrong Moparman, I think this thread is awesome too, and I definitely appreciate the effort that's gone into it biggrin.gif

I was just trying to clarify the difference between load and LOAD wink.gif Plus make the point that any of the top boys (and many below) will easily deal with gaming load temps.
