Car PC Power Supply Questions

Thread Starter
Pre-made models are silly expensive (over 1K for a core 2duo?) So i;m building my own.. Whats stopping me is the power supply, normally I would post this on a car audio forum but id rather post here and get some intelligent replies wink.gif Minibox makes the M4-ATX that does 250W for $90 frown.gif.. If thats my only option I need some creative ideas to make a PC with 1TB+ of storage run in that power bracket... If you have any ideas, suggestions, or just ramblings I would love to hear them. Thanks!

Also, I plan to use an FM2 APU for the PC, something with a super low power bracket biggrin.gif

EDIT!! ORRRRR
Could I just get a crazy beefy power inverter and run a standard PSU?

Look up PicoPSUs. However make sure the one you're getting is rated for automotive use; the non-automotive ones pass the +12V input straight to the CPU, etc, but in a car the +12V can vary between 10.6V and 14V, which will kill a computer. The automotive ones regulate the +12V input to avoid that.
